Abstract

In the Czech Republic, every year 2000 patients undergo bariatric surgery for the treatment of obesity. Currently, 5 methods are used from gastric bandage to sleeve gastrectomy, laparoscopic greater curvature plication and gastric bypass, and from time to time even biliopancreatic divergence.

Undoubtedly, after all these performances, metabolic status is improved, and a large weight loss occurs, thus resulting in an improvement in life prognosis. However, weight loss is often accompanied by vitamin deficiency and loss of active body mass.

Loss of fat as well as of active body mass can lead to stability disorders, increasing pain in the motion system, and thus impairing the quality of life. Targeted and mainly controlled physical activity is a basic prerequisite for preserving active body mass after surgery as to maximize the improvement of the prognosis as well as the quality of life.
