Process for preparing S-allylthioglutathione, optionally in admixture with S-allyldithioglutathione, mixture of S-allylthioglutathione with S-allyldithioglutathione and S-allyldithioglutathione
Abstract
A process for preparing S-allylthioglutathione where the reduced glutathione reacts with diallyldisulfide in dimethylsulfoxide to form S-allylthioglutathione. The solution also provides a variation of this process by first reacting with sulfane oxidized glutathione to form a mixture of reduced glutathione and thioglutathione, and then reacting with dimethylallyldisulfide in dimethylsulfoxide to form a mixture of S-allylthioglutathione with S-allyldithioglutathione.
The invention also provides a pharmaceutical composition consisting of S-allylthioglutathione and S-allyldithioglutathione and also S-allyldithioglutathione of formula I.
