The period of Great Disturbances. The reflection of the Great Russian crisis (Revolution and Civil War) in literature of the 21st century
Abstract
This chapter presents an overview of modern literature dedicated to the Russian Revolution and Civil War. A special focus is given to the juxtaposition of two literary works, "The Aviator" by E.
Vodolazkin and "Myakhaya Tkan" by B. Minaev.
Thanks to this juxtaposition, we can observe and study the social and personal relationships in Minaev and Vodolazkin's books. Analyzing both literary works, the author mentions the problematics of classical works about the Civil War written in the 20th century.
The author, for example, takes the novel-epopee by M. Sholokhov "The Quiet Don" and "Tales of the Don" and provides parallels with the most significant novel of the 19th century, "Fathers and Sons" by I.S.
Turgenev. Such a juxtaposition helps to understand the psychological stream of modern Russian literature, taking into account the events happening at that time, radically changing the living in Russia at the beginning of the 20th century.
It helps to think about the sources and causes of the Disturbances and identity of the Russian nation.
