Abstract
The proposal to establish the term "socionom" as the highest level of qualification of a social worker was made by professor Tomeš on the basis of his knowledge of the international environment and practical experience. In connection with the project of professionalization of social work in the Czech republic, the question arises whether the term "socionom" can bring more weight to the profession of social work than the current term "social worker".
