Hallstatt chamber graves from Brno-Holásky

Publication

Abstract

Magnate mounds are monumental evidence of the existence of the elite of the Hallstatt perios in Moravia. We know them, for example, from the localities Horákov-Hlásnica, Morašice or Brno-Holásky 1 and 2.

The last mentioned graves are cited many times as one of the basic building blocks of the knowledge of the Horákov culture, but they have never been published as a whole. In 2017, a review was carried out, which consisted of the classification of material from both units, photographic documentation and the creation of catalogs, which resulted in the writing of a bachelor thesis.

The life of both chamber graves was once again inspired by Igor Furuglas (the expert consultancy was provided by the archaeologist Martin Golec), which, with its beautiful 3D reconstructions, presented the possible original appearance of the mound and their equipment. The paper presents the process of creation and final visualization.
