Use of dog for acivisation procedures in the comprehensive rehabilitation

Abstract

Comprehensive rehabilitation (CR) lies in complex multidisciplinary approach towards patient. It is focused on therapeutic sphere, as well as work, social and educational sphere.

Zoorehabilitation lean on professional and creative use of animals in various components of comprehensive rehabilitation. Aim: Aim of this work is to summarize and clarify the principles and benefits of animal engagement into activities in various parts of comprehensive rehabilitation.

Methods: Literature research of current available literature on the topic of zoorehabilitation in the comprehensive rehabilitation context, especially focused on therapeutic, social and educational component, was used in this article Results: From the presented studies came out that animal presence may influence all spheres of comprehensive rehabilitation. An animal may have influence on fine and gross motor functions.

Further,; it may influence the psychic state of client and it serves as tentative point for communication between the therapist and client. Presence or ownership of an animal influences also social area in comprehensive rehabilitation and may be used also in educational rehabilitation, e.g. in children with specific needs in education.

In work rehabilitation, an animal may be integrated indirectly, to support independency, information functions or to serve as an aid to ease the way to work. Conclusion: Presence of an animal influences many aspect of clientsASTERISK OPERATOR life (health, psychic and social aspects) and their use can be understood as a part of comprehensive rehabilitation.
