The paper compares the coverage of two topics - one from science and one from social studies (history) - in seven "national" curricular frameworks developed or revised in 21st century. The documents chosen include curricula from the Czech Republic, Scotland, England, Sweden, Finland, Norway, and the two documents from the United States of America - the Next Generation Science Standards and The College, Career, and Civic Life (C3) Framework for Social Studies State Standards.
Using these cases, we juxtapose and contrast the specification of the subject knowledge in two domains and in different types of documents.
