Electromagnetic ion cyclotron (EMIC) waves are plasma waves generated by anisotropic ion distributions at locations where hot anisotropic ions and cold dense plasma populations spatially overlap. Data from four THEMIS probes were analysed, with a particular interest in regions at radial distances larger than 8 RE, in order to investigate properties of EMIC waves near the Earth's magnetopause.

Visual inspection of the data matches with the automatic detection in 66 % of cases. The most represented EMIC waves were found in the H+ band.

These waves are present in 82 % of observed EMIC intervals.
