Abstract

The paper presents the theoretical background and the design of our study focused on teaching collocations in relation to the process of foreign language acquisition. Collocations are important for naturalness and fluency of langauge production.

Howevder, the correct production of collocations seems to be problematic not only for beginners, but also for advanced students. Explicit and systematic teaching of collocations via lexical approach will be implemented in the study.

We will try to identify which types of students will benefit from this type of teaching the most. The research will be conducted via a teaching intervention over a period of three months.
