Abstract

For over half a century, there has been no doubt about a casual relationship between smoking and lung cancer. In the vast majority of cases, unfortunately, the disease is diagnosed at an advanced stage.

Screening with low-dose computer tomography (LDCT) allows us to detect earlier stagesand thus reduce the morality. Logically, however, it is necessary to také an interest in the cause for the increased risk and indications for this screening, namely smoking.

Combining lung LDCT with individualized and suitable treatment for tobacco dependence will considerably increase not only the impact on health but also the cost-effectiveness of lun LDCT.
