We present an overview of methods for the study of the structure of cataclysmic variables. One method is based on the analysis of photometric observation of eclipses of studied objects.
By light-curve modelling, properties of the system can be determined. Another method, the Doppler tomography, is based on analysis of time-resolved spectra and can provide an insight into to the properties of the emission region of the accretion disc of a cataclysmic variable.
We show the study of a dwarf nova CzeV404 Her as an example for these methods.
