Abstract

The preserved correspondence of the important Roman orator and politician M. Tullius Cicerocontains almost 900 letters and is of great historical importance.

Cicero was in correpondence with a considerable number of prominent Roman personalities of the last decades of the Roman republic (Pompeius, Caesar, M. Antonius)The letters often in detail present his view of the events and personalities of this period, they express Cicero's reflections and moods, they inform about ghis family background and wide cultural interests.

Thanks to them are for us the Cicero's times the best known period of all Ancient history. The volume contains approximately 230 letters from the years 65 - 50 BC:
