Abstract

The poster presents theoretical and research approaches to visual literacy issues at the Department of Art Education at the Pedagogical Faculty of Charles University in Prague Functional visual literacy does not consist only of the basic set of competencies and subcompetencies, but above all, it possesses the ability to use all these competencies together in different contexts. Research issues: Social and cultural conditions of visualisation (showing, imagining, creating); Visual semiotics: art as a communication; Artist-teacher-researcher; Art and didactical transpositions in art education; Portfolio in art education and Ways of seeing.
