The text evaluates the results reached so far in the introduction of Romani into schools in Slovakia. It reasses the logic of the support of the position of Romani as a minority language in school education on the national and European level and highlights that for future planning of Romani in the school environment the needs of Romani pupils and students - and especially Romani speakers among them - should stay in the primary focus.
While respecting the importance of further developement of the current line of support for the teaching of Romani as a foreign language, the text suggests exploring other venues of the support of Romani in schools as a vital part of the students' identity, everyday reality, daily communication and personal development.
