The Influence of different factors on Teacher's Decisions on the Content of Teaching

Abstract

The aim of the research was to find out how teachers decide the content of teaching and what role textbooks, school curriculum, teacher's beliefs, shared teacher beliefs in school, etc. play in this decision. The research method was a questionnaire survey among primary school teachers and interviews with them.

Teachers' beliefs about what is important to teach and the school curriculum, according to teachers, have a greater impact on teaching content than textbooks. Textbooks, shared teachers' beliefs in the school, and methodological guides have an average impact.

Teachers' statements often indicate a less sophisticated choice of teaching content based on different sources and the use of a textbook as a source of topics.
