In this analysis, we have validated that the low-intensity anti-coagulation used in MAGENTUM-1 (INR 1.50-1.90) results in a decreased anti-coagulant effect compared with standard intensity warfarin anti-coagulation (INR 2.0-3.0), as evidenced by the differential levels of CFX suppression, an independent method of assessing anti-coagulation intensity. The finding suggests that low-intensity warfarin anti-coagulation is reliable and feasible in selected patients supported with this type of left ventricular assist device.
