The difficult life of the Common Kingfisher (Alcedo atthis) in the city

Abstract

The occurrence of the kingfishers is associated with naturally meandering streams with enough of fish and nesting possibilities. But we can also see kingfishers in an urbanized landscape - in cities, even in Prague.

However, nesting in cities is not easy. Kingfishers has to deal with numerous problems and disturbances associated with the urban landscape.

Revitalization and various modifications to river banks often result in the loss of nesting possibilities.
