Abstract
Somatic idioms are commonly used in Czech and Russian political discourse. Somatic idioms are numerous in Slavic languages; they reflect the cognitive comprehension about parts of the body and its functions.
Somatic idioms can be used for describing political phenomena in a certain way. However, there are differences in the use of some somatic idioms in Russia and the Czech republic, which can be explained by the specific representation of the social, historical and political development of the countries.
