Abstract
The aim of the present paper is to outline the role of the proper names as a source of extra-linguistic information and a tool for acquiring knowledge and skills in foreign language teaching. The author proceeds from the distribution, classification and functions of proprii, specifying the factors, having influence on the process of selecting them while preparing textbooks of Bulgarian language for foreign students.
