It is a collective monograph, with an interdisciplinary and cross-lingual approach, which presents the linguistic assumptions and characteristics of the written systems in each country and its impact on the emergence of dyslexia. The chapter informs about described phenomena in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
It presents the history and theory of research in the field of specific learning disorders; the prevalence and identification of disorders. It also takes into account the teaching methods of reading and writing, manifestations of dyslexia in terms of behavioral and neurocognitive indicators, intervention approaches to minimize the impact on individuals.
The comparison with other languages and orthographic systems is also analyzed.
