Abstract

The paper deals with the topic of formative assessment with regard to teaching Czech as a foreign language. Formative assessment is considered to have the potential to improve pupils' learning.

The paper provides a basic insight into the topic and then specific examples of formative assessment methods, tools and techniques useful in practice, such as informative feedback, criteria, self-assessment, peer assessment, or error correction techniques.
