This chapter looks at the transnational dynamics in Lusophone poetry by Noémie de Sousa, a Mozambique poet. In close reading of one of her poems, Harlem emerges not only as the utopia of the African diaspora, but at the same time as a problematic space that inspires the poet's solidarity towards its representatives.
The chapter also looks at a Czech translation of this poem and situates it in the debates on national self-determination, decolonization and appropriation.
