Abstract

We often need an approximate estimate of the patient's cognitive performance in clinical practice. Screening of cognition is used for the detection of cognitive impairment.

There are many reasons why to use this screening, e.g. saving time, less demands on neuropsychological experience or better price compared to complex neuropsychological examination. The most used method in the Czech Republic is the Mini Mental State Examination(MMSE).

Using this tool has benefits and limits. In our context we can use Montreal Cognitive Assessment, 7-Minute Screen (7MST), Clock Drawing Test (CDT), Addenbrooke s Cognitive Examination-Revised (ACE-R).

The aim of this study is provide to reader up-to-date information on the various studies on the field of screening methods, especially in the context of the Czech population and highlight new normative data and the possibilities of each screening application.
