Abstract

Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) enables us to provide unusual view on generally well-known objects. This poster presents such view to periostracal structures and inner calcareous microstructures of nine common Central European land snails (Acanthinula aculeata, Alinda biplicata, Cochlodina laminata, Isognomostoma isognomostomos, Monachoides incarnatus, Nesovitrea hammonis, Punctum pygmaeum, Pupilla sterrii and Xerolenta obvia).

Microstructures of these species differ both in periostracal structures and calcareous structures being not only taxonomically specific but also ecologically specific.
