Abstract
The paper examines terminological development in the field of cryptocurrencies and cryptoassets and analyses the differences between those two terms and other related ones such as digital currency and virtual currency. It furthermore examines the suitability of those terms from the perspective of both legal and economic theory and the perspective of regulatory authorities in the given area.
