Abstract

The article points out the importance of vaccination as a prevention of infectious diseases in medical professionals. The authors summarize the evidence regarding the vaccination against viral hepatitis A and B, influenza, measles, meningococcal infections, chickenpox and whooping cough that represent diseases with the highest risk of infection and transmission by medical professionals.

Specific vaccination options are detailed out, including the methods of pre-exposition and post-exposition prophylaxis and of reimbursement. The authors emphasize the need for higher rate of vaccination amongst medical professionals against individual diseases
