Abstract
Auditory steady-state responses (ASSR) are auditory evoked potentials based on quantitative analysis of EEG signal. ASSR tests the ability of cortical circuits to synchronize to a specific frequency of an auditive stimulation (usually in gamma range - 30 to 100 Hz).
Stimulation in gamma range is usually used in patients with psychiatric disorders as a test of cortical circuits to generate gamma oscillations. This article summarises the newest research of ASSR in affective disorders.
The relevant studies are presented in detail and the direction of future research is discussed.
