There is still a lack of evidence about mental illness prevalence in many Central and Eastern European countries, including the Czech Republic. Considering the recently launched national mental health care reform, there is a need to know the number of people living with mental disorders in Czech population.
Also the information on how mental illness affects their lives and how many of them use mental health case services is needed. The following text represents the summary of results of CZEch Mental health Study (CZEMS) carried out on a sample of 3 306 respondents representative for general Czech population older than 18 years.
