Alois Klar between Blindness and Enlightenment. Knowledge, Power and the Invention of Social Care

Abstract

The text follows Alois Klar (1763-1833), professor of classical languages at Prague University, who founded the first institute for blind people aroudn 1800. The aim of this contribuition is to understand the social and scientific circumstances of his project.
