International conference aimed at deepening the discussion on the role of WWII in modern history, echoing even in the present times. It seeks to grasp the phenomenon of the Second World War as a historical event reminded and commemorated during and beyond the Cold War with diverse impact on the formation of identities.
It specifically focused on the region of Central, East and South-East Europe and provides space to contributions on war narratives of various interest groups (for example the Holocaust, GULAG, resistance, minorities etc.) and the ways how they are remembered and mediated.
