Abstract

The features of the use of anglicisms in the speech of modern Russian and Czech politicians are considered. The reasons for using anglicisms in phraseology in political discourse are described, including the intention to manipulate the recipient's consciousness.

Four groups of anglicisms in phraseology in political discourse are distinguished, their pragmatic features in the speech of politicians are analyzed. The use of anglicisms in political discourse is dictated by external and internal factors: the rules and regulations of a particular genre of political discourse or the communicative attitudes of the politician himself.

A politician who uses anglicisms in his speech emphasizes the high level of his education, professional competence and knowledge and wants to gain loyalty from the target audience.
