Abstract

Euroregions can be seen as still relatively young entities, not fully established in competition with other regional institutions / levels development. The degree of their acceptance, respectively. importance in public administration and everyday life is very variable.

It is understandable that Czech Euroregions, due to their youth, rank among the weaker articles in the (central) European context: regions approaching integration candidates. So there is enough space for their "uplift", to a certain extent however, it alludes to the generally lukewarm attitude of Czech society towards EU approaches and philosophy.

For the cross-border / Euroregional level, where Euroregions are seen as initiators of cross-border cooperation, it is proposed to activate the Association of Euroregions of the Czech Republic as a body promoting a uniform approach and intentions in cross-border cooperation towards regions and central authorities. At the same time to make membership in the Euroregions more attractive not only for municipalities but also for other subjects according to thematic focus (chambers of commerce, nature conservation institutions, etc.).
