Photoprotection in drug-induced photosensitivity

Publication at Third Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové |
2020

Abstract

Exposure to solar ultraviolet (UV) radiation can cause immediate or delayed harmful effects in the skin. Such effects can be amplified by topical and systemic drugs that have photosensitising potential.

Drug cessation or thorough photoprotection is required. Avoiding direct sun exposure, using protective clothes and sunscreens constitute an effective photoprotection.
