Tomáš Vejchodský: Turing's instability and Turing's patterns

Publication

Abstract

In his lecture Tomáš Vejchodský focused on the life and work of Alan Turing, British mathematician, logic, founder of computer science. The lecturer explained the issues of Turing's instability and Turing's patterns.

He mentioned the Matlab system in which is implemented a spectral Fourier's method for 1D and 2D partial differential equations of reaction-diffusion type with homogeneous boundary conditions of Neumann's type. The resulting code examines the formation of Turing's patterns for various non-linear kinetics choices.

The lecture was followed by a discussion.
