Lima, the capital of Peru, is suffering from persistent structural problems that affect metropolis in the region of Latin America. Some of these problems show up there more profoundly than elsewhere, just because Lima is one of the biggest agglomerations in the whole region.
The number of its inhabitants attacks 10 million which represents one third of the country's population, and this disproportion will increase. The city thus - to a large extent - reflects crisis phenomena of the whole country.
