Transformative learning: application of the term in the context of the education system and policy making

Abstract

The mapping study introduces the theory of transformative learning and describes its possible link with education for sustainable development. It also discusses possibility of application of transformative learning in the education of children and pupils - this is the target group for which this pedagogical theory was not originally intended.

In its second half, the mapping study deals with the issue of competences in education for sustainable development and their relation to educational objectives, focusing on the normative dimension of learning.
