Abstract

The Laboratory of Evolutionary Sexology and Psychopathology was established in 2015 at the National Institute of Mental Health in Klecany (Czech republic) by Dr. Kateřina Klapilová and colleagues (https://www.sexlabnudz.cz/; https://www.researchgate. net/lab/Laboratory-of-Evolutionary-Sexology-andPsychopathology-Katerina-Klapilova).

The lab carries out basic and clinical research in the field of sexology. Currently, the laboratory has ten stable research members of diverse specializations (psychologists, clinical sexologists, ethologists and neuroscientists).

The scope of the lab is extensive - it covers various areas in the field of basic and clinical sexology. Major focus is on various general topics, like the study of nationwide prevalences of sexual preferences, determinants of male and female sexual arousal, sexual fantasies, human courtship behavior, sexual orientation, pornography use and also clinical topics, like basic research of paraphilias, sexual dysfunctions and sexuality of individuals with major depression.

We are open to the international collaboration, for example in the form of crosscultural studies or research tool standardization in the Czech population.
