Benign bone tumors and tumor-like affections are an important chapter in orthopedics. Whether for differential diagnosis of more severe conditions, or because we often find them in children, adolescents, or young adults.
In this paper we give a brief overview of the most common benign bone tumors and tumors of similar affection in pediatric and adult patients, including an outline of therapeutic procedures. The most common affections of this group are the osteochondromas and the nonossifying fibromas.
Of the other more frequent units, it is advisable not to forget osteoid osteoma and osteoblastoma, which can be exchanged for eg. stress fracture. Chondroblastoma and chondromas as representatives of cartilaginous affections are particularly important for their potential for bone destruction.
The last large group consists of bone cysts, which cause a significant part of pathological fractures in pediatric patients.
