In the majority of cases, Lyme disease responds well to antibiotic therapy. However, some patients may have chronic nonspecific symptoms such as musculoskeletal pain and persistent fatigue grouped under the term ((Lyme disease post-treatment syndrome}} (SPTML).
The diagnostic criteria for SPTML were have been clearly defined, however, the treatment of this pathology by general practitioners is far from satisfactory. , neuromuscular or other somatic disorders with similar symptoms and equivalent prevalence. Recommendations for treatment of SPTML are hotly debated.
Non-pharmaceutical approaches prevail while antibiotic therapy is strongly discouraged .
