TEST DSpace- The divine comedy of cosmonautics

Publication at Charles University |

Abstract

What does deep space have to do with the Wild West, and why do space agencies quote from Renaissance poems to justify their budgets? Through a series of paintings, photographs, poems, excerpts and quotations, the lecture will take you through the poetic history of astronautics and show that the metaphors behind today's efforts go back to Dante's Divine Comedy and a certain sinner whose "transgressions" today's space agencies cite as their credo.
