Abstract

The study aims to describe value-formations in the area of family life and partnership in West and East Germany, the Czech Republic and Poland. The analysis of personal advertisements allowed for the identification of basic values and attitudes that shape a culturally specific concept of life and partnership in each society.

The comparison of the four cultural areas showed a systematic relationship: specifics in economic conditions, historical heritage and national past effect the idea of a good life and a good partnership.
