Cardiac involvement in sarcoidosis might be either isolated or as a part of systemic disease. The disease typically manifests as arrhythmias or heart failure.
Heart involvement predicts survival of the affected subjects. Imaging methods play a key role in the diagnostic of cardiac sarcoidosis.
Echocardiography is a first line method in suspected cardiac sarcoidosis and is important in follow-up of the affected patients. Cardiac magnetic resonance and radionuclide imaging methods have a significant role not only in diagnostic of cardiac sarcoidosis, but also in prognostic stratification of the patients.
Moreover, PET-CT is very useful in monitoring ofthe disease activity and in management of immunosuppressive treatment.
