Abstract

Screening for gestational diabetes mellitus in the Czech Republic is two-phase, indicated in all pregnant women and organized by a gynecologist. Phase I screening is indicated in all pregnant women by week 14 and includes fasting blood glucose from venous plasma.

II. The sceening phase (three-point oral glucose tolerance test - oGTT with 75 g of glucose) is performed in women with a negative result in the 1st largest screening (fasting blood glucose <5.1 mmol / l) between 24 and 28 weeks [1].

In addition to the usual normoglycemic or GDM indicating values, during the oGTT set values at low limits also hypoglycemic values (values up to 3.5 mmol / l are considered normal glycemic variations in healthy individuals [4]). The significance of these values for fetal development is killed by several studies, from which a brief summary can be seen.
