Abstract

The Earth's climate has changed so sharply in recent decades, with such negative effects that we are talking about a global climate crisis. The world is trying to face the first serious consequences, such as a long-lasting drought or severe spring and summer rains, and elsewhere in the world many other and often worse consequences.

However, the current manifestations are only the beginning of a crisis that will continue to deepen if the world does not take systemic measures, especially in addressing its causes. At national level and throughout the European Union, commitments are being made to reduce emissions of so-called greenhouse gases (especially carbon dioxide), adaptation measures are being planned, and significant funding is being spent.

This applies not only to governments on the one hand and businesses on the other, but in fact to all citizens. However, the planetary climate system is very complex and therefore it is not easy to understand the basic things.

This short text seeks to provide essential information that should help to understand the whole situation.
