Abstract
Despite his wide popularity among the professional and lay public, Josef Čapek is still an internationally underappreciated painter. After studying at the craft weaving school and at the Prague School of Applied Arts, he built a very distinctive style on the initiative of Picasso and other modern painters, based on a deeply conceived craft and a love of the world and man.
