This paper examines the impact of two reforms of parental allowance in the Czech Republic on the labor market status of women 3-5 years after childbirth. In contrast with previous literature, we consider not only the timing of post-birth employment but also distinguish between unemployment and inactivity among mothers who are not employed.

This allows us to explore the unintended effects the reforms had on post-leave unemployment and inactivity.
