Written expression diagnostics forms a part of traditional diagnostic process in the Czech counselling system and is especially applied in children struggling to acquire literacy skills. When assessing written expression, we focus mainly on graphic and motor skills in writing and on correct spelling in the written piece.
According to the DSM-5 (2013) framework however, there is yet another area of written expression where specific writing disabilities may manifest themselves, namely the expressive writing. The purpose of the paper herein is to present the research study mapping the expressive writing skill in the context of the Czech counselling system.
