Abstract
The lecture took place under the auspices of Krajská zdravotní a.s. and Masaryk Hospital oz. on 18.6.2020. My lecture was related to my research project and one of the points of this lecture was the ethical aspects related to the indication and contraindication of this surgical treatment of arrhythmias in elderly patients who are primarily indicated for open heart surgery from another indication.
This intervention significantly prolongs the total duration of the surgery procedure and increase the risk in elderly patients. Statistically, in some cases, the resulting effect of this procedure is controversial.
In this lecture, I presented that the medical indication criterion alone is not sufficient and it is necessary to assess other criteria, which include the ethical criterion.
