Abstract

Great Britain is a country with a long tradition of public participation in decision-making, and that not only in the environmental matters. The public has broad possibilities of involvement in essentially all environmental protection proceedings.

However, the legislation is contained in a number of legal provisions establishing different participatory procedures for different procedures, which makes it difficult to orientate. The aim of this article is to analyse the legal regulations of selected proceedings iportant for environmental protection to identify the basic principles common to all, or at least most of these proceedings, and to find out whether they could be a source of inspiration for the Czech legislation.
