This article looks at some of the new teaching challenges that have arisen in the past decade. Students of all ages require new methods of teaching and a new level of involvement in the educational process.

We can no longer satisfy their desires by mere frontal teaching; we have to actively involve them in teaching activities. One of various possibilities to motivate students is to use real-time educational applications that stimulate their imagination and involve not just memory but also other aspects of the mind such as empathy.

Students like courses that emphasize interactive and cooperative projects and the history classroom seems a natural venue for such projects. It is also important for the teacher to create awareness for historical debates among students since current policy debates are invariably rooted in history
